Recipes for coffee with lemon, the benefits and harms of the drink


The recipe for adding citrus fruits to coffee was invented a long time ago. They tried to throw pieces of lime, grapefruit, orange and even tangerine into the drink. But for some reason only lemon took root. Maybe due to its pronounced taste (which tangerine does not have), or due to its cheapness (this is not about lime), or maybe because of its convenient size (this is not about grapefruit)? Nowadays, coffee with lemon is a classic invigorating drink. Any recipe for its preparation, in addition to its pleasant taste, provides us with vitamin C, improves our mood and overall tone of the body!

Coffee with lemon: benefit or harm

Citrus fruits contain a large amount of vitamin C. In addition, they contain trace elements, pectins and essential oils that have anti-inflammatory properties. True, under the influence of high temperature, most of the beneficial effects are lost. Therefore, drinking such a drink for the purpose of healing is inappropriate. Lemon in its raw form will be much more useful.

But there are still benefits from such a cocktail:

  • partially neutralizes caffeine. Accordingly, its effect on the body will be significantly less;
  • stimulates digestion. Therefore, it is recommended to consume it after a hearty lunch to stimulate the activity of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • helps to cheer up;
  • stimulates the activity of the central nervous system.

The drink is often used for weight loss. True, its usefulness in this case is very doubtful. It is indeed capable of speeding up metabolism and removing toxins from the body, but without proper nutrition and regular physical activity, it will still not be possible to lose weight.

It is worth noting that beneficial properties are observed only if Romano is consumed in moderation. If you drink it too often, your blood pressure will increase and a number of other negative changes will occur.

You should not drink coffee with lemon on an empty stomach, as the risk of developing ulcers and gastritis increases.

Lemon coffee recipe

Let's prepare two basic recipes - Romano coffee and Sicilian coffee.

Sicilian coffee

Required for 2 servings

  1. Freshly ground coffee – 3 teaspoons
  2. Chilled water – 150 ml
  3. Lemon juice – 5 ml or 1 teaspoon
  4. A strip of lemon zest or finely grated zest in the amount of 1 pinch.

First you need to brew strong espresso in a Turk. To do this, you need to put ground coffee in a heated cezve, fill it with water and heat over low heat until the foam rises.

Remove the cezve from the heat, let the foam decrease slightly and hold the cezve over the fire again until the foam cap rises. Repeat the procedure a total of 5-6 times.

IMPORTANT. Under no circumstances should you bring coffee to a boil. Just until the foam rises.

The result is a strong, aromatic drink with strong foam. This espresso, by the way, is much tastier than one prepared in a coffee machine.

Let the coffee brew for 1-2 minutes, then pour into cups, add ½ teaspoon of lemon juice to each.

Decorate the top of the drink with zest - a neatly cut strip or simply grated on a fine grater.

Sugar is served separately for this drink.

The Sicilians themselves claim that their recipe helps relieve headaches, lifts the mood and gives new colors to life.

Romano coffee

Required for two servings

  1. Freshly ground coffee – 2-3 teaspoons
  2. Water – 150 ml
  3. Lemon - two round slices.

Before preparing the drink, cut the lemon slices into two parts so that you get four half rings, cover them with sugar.

Those who do not like sweet coffee can use salt instead of sugar, the taste will be even more impressive.

We brew coffee according to the usual recipe. Please note that this version should be less strong than the Sicilian, as it contains less lemon juice.

After double foam, remove the coffee from the heat, put two slices of lemon into the cezve, literally, for 10-20 seconds. If you give it more time, the lemon will give off bitterness rather than acid. For those who love the piquant bitterness of lemon, the infusion time can be increased to 1 minute.

Remove the saucer and carefully remove the lemon slices from the coffee. Pour the coffee into cups and add a fresh slice of lemon to each. You can start tasting. Sugar is also served separately here.

A great addition to coffee with lemon would be marshmallows, marshmallows or lemon sorbet.

Based on coffee with lemon, you can experiment with other additives. Caramel or chocolate will do. Combinations with spices, for example, with the already familiar black pepper, can be very successful. In a word, don’t be afraid to experiment, creating new tastes and filling your day with discoveries, albeit small ones, but made on your own.

How to drink coffee with lemon

In Italy, traditional Romano is usually served in thick-walled cups. At the same time, place a slice of citrus and refined sugar on a saucer . The decoration is a spiral-cut strip of fruit peel.

This drink can be drunk both hot and cold. The ideal time for consumption is the morning. It is not recommended to enjoy the exquisite taste of Romano before going to bed.

What are the benefits of coffee with lemon?

For people suffering from migraines or low blood pressure, this drink will not only be a tonic, but also truly useful. The fact is that all the harm of coffee lies in its main component – ​​caffeine. However, the juice released by a slice of lemon in a cup of coffee reduces the harmful effects of this psychostimulant on the body.

In addition, coffee is also useful for people with ARVI. Seemingly harmful caffeine speeds up the work of the heart, which, in turn, begins to accelerate blood through the vessels faster, the immune system is strengthened, and the person soon gets better. And citrus fruits are the best helpers in the fight against temperature and germs.

By drinking 1-2 cups of coffee with lemon a day, you prolong the life of your cells. The point is the antioxidants contained in both coffee and lemon. Organic acids, which are abundant in citrus, break down fats in the body, normalize metabolism and dull the feeling of hunger, improve the condition of skin, hair and nails. Vitamin C, which lemon is very rich in, helps maintain strength so that any diet can be tolerated easily and painlessly.

In addition, romaine can improve metabolism, again thanks to caffeine, which causes the stomach to secrete more juices.

Another important point about coffee is that caffeine can increase your metabolic rate by 3-11%! This fact is often used to speed up the process of losing excess weight. Drink a cup of coffee 15-20 minutes before, of course, without sugar or milk. But it is very important to know that this technique can also cause harm. Especially if there is even the slightest deviation in the functioning of the cardiovascular system. Therefore, it is recommended to drink coffee and strong tea (including matcha and even cocoa!) before 16:00 and at least an hour before playing sports.

Contraindications

Not everyone can drink coffee with lemon. It is contraindicated for gastritis, ulcers and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. Its use is also not recommended during pregnancy and lactation. The combination of citrus and caffeine has a strong effect on the nervous system and destabilizes it. Against the background of hormonal changes observed in women who are breastfeeding and carrying a baby, the following changes are possible:

  • depression;
  • increased anxiety;
  • neurosis;
  • psycho-emotional instability.

It is also harmful to drink Romano if you have the following health problems:

  • atherosclerosis;
  • ischemia;
  • hypertension;
  • heart disease.

The combination of citrus fruits and coffee is an original solution. You can make a lot of drinks based on these components. You just need to choose the most suitable option for yourself and strictly follow the instructions given in the recipe. The result of your efforts will certainly please you. The taste of the resulting cocktail will undoubtedly delight you.

Plot

The famous Soviet actor Valery Ostrovsky is heading with his family for permanent residence to Israel, where he is promised a well-paid job. Upon arrival, however, everything turns out to be completely different, and nostalgia and difficulties with the language force Valery to attempt to return. However, during his absence, life in his homeland changed and became not only restless, but also dangerous. An accidental bullet during the October events in Moscow puts an end to his fate.

Director and co-writer of the script Leonid Gorovets said that initially the ending of the film was not intended to be so sad: upon returning to Moscow, Valery finds his native theater closed, and on the boarded up doors he sees a note: “The theater is closed. Everyone went to the rally.” But life made its own adjustments: the film crew filmed the armed confrontation directly from the window on Krasnaya Presnya, and then the script was changed.

How to cook

There are several ways to make coffee with lemon. In each individual case, the strength of the drink and the set of ingredients will vary. The most popular is the traditional recipe. For preparation, you can use either a Turk or a coffee maker. The degree of grinding of coffee beans does not matter significantly.

Classic way

Components:

  • 30 ml water;
  • 5 ml lemon juice;
  • 7 g ground coffee beans;
  • zest of 1 lemon;
  • sugar - to taste.

Cooking process:

  1. Coffee is prepared in any usual way.
  2. Lemon juice is poured into the finished drink.
  3. Granulated sugar is added as desired.
  4. The zest is used as decoration. It can be grated on a fine grater or cut into a thin spiral.

Ingredients:

  • 200 ml cold water;
  • 1 tsp. ground coffee;
  • 1 slice of lemon;
  • sugar - to taste.

Cooking steps:

  1. The coffee is placed in a pot, poured with cold water and kept over low heat until it boils.
  2. After removing from the heat, the drink is infused.
  3. Add a slice of lemon directly to the cup.


If desired, you can decorate the drink with cinnamon.

French

Components:

  • 70 g ground coffee;
  • 1 tbsp. l. lemon liqueur;
  • 5 tsp. cream;
  • 1 tbsp. l. lemon zest;
  • 10 ml cream;
  • 1 slice of lemon.

Recipe:

  1. Coffee is prepared in any suitable way.
  2. Liqueur is added to the finished drink.
  3. Whisk the cream thoroughly in a separate container. Then zest and granulated sugar are added to them. The resulting mixture is placed in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  4. Coffee is poured into a cup. Chilled cream is placed on top.
