What does a spiced chai latte consist of?

The uniqueness of the drink consisting of:

  1. black or green teas;
  2. dairy products;
  3. spices;
  4. granulated sugar.

After trying these drinks, everyone will be satisfied. Varietal teas give taste and aroma. But everything depends on the methods of preparation and the strength of the tea leaves, along with the spicy ingredients.

You can use different varieties:

  • white;
  • black;
  • green teas.

All spices are added to taste and according to the recipe. The drinks combine tenderness and softness. They leave an amazing herbal, spicy aftertaste.

Amazing properties of matcha

Matcha contains 10 times more antioxidants than regular green tea. Oxides are barbaric oxygen molecules that, under the influence of negative factors (environment, solar radiation, stress, smoking, poor nutrition, lack of sleep) lose one electron and become unstable.

To stabilize, these unstable oxygen molecules move around the body and steal electrons from other decent molecules, destroying collagen along the way and triggering inflammatory processes.

Foods with high antioxidant properties (like matcha) have the ability to bind this unstable oxygen and remove it from the body. All this makes matcha an indispensable drink for those who care about skin health (and it is also useful to drink matcha on vacation to compensate for long-term damage from tanning).

Utility

If you drink spicy chai latte often, your body will thank you. With this drink on hand, you can confidently ditch your morning cups of coffee.

Thanks to the spices:

  1. you'll cheer up
  2. metabolic processes improve;
  3. tone will increase;
  4. the cocktail will stimulate memory.

Reviews

Inga: I tried tea latte for the first time in a cafe in the capital. I liked the taste so much that I wanted to make it myself, but it didn’t turn out quite the way I wanted. I started looking for where to buy ready-made tea mixtures and found them on the Internet. But they are too expensive, although this is the only negative. The taste of this tea is simply amazing. It's very easy to prepare. Just add hot milk to the powder. A wonderful, invigorating drink.

Anna: I never liked coffee, I always drink only tea. I recently heard about the existence of tea latte and decided to try it. I bought capsules for the coffee maker and brewed them. The drink is more like a very weak milk coffee than not tea. But I liked it. The taste of the tea is unusual, delicate, without bitterness, with the aroma of cinnamon and thick sweet foam. However, it is not cheap and one package does not last long.

Olga: I’ve heard a lot of praise about the incredibly tasty and healthy tea latte. I don’t have the opportunity to buy a ready-made drink. Therefore, I decided to try brewing it myself. I use green tea and a minimum of sugar for this. Oddly enough, the drink is very tasty, soft, and completely suppresses your appetite for a long time. Thanks to tea latte, I quickly got rid of extra pounds and my overall health improved. Excellent healthy and tasty tea.

Recipe

Coffee shops will offer you different options, but you can make these cocktails at home.

Classic drinks

They are prepared in a Turkish oven with 50 ml of water, with the addition of cardamom (several pieces), ginger (5 grams), pepper (2 peas) and sugar. Let everything start to boil, and then let it brew for 3 to 5 minutes, with added milk (take a significant part from 380 ml) and cinnamon (2 tsp).

And now, pour black tea leaves (2 tsp) into a teapot hot from boiling water and pour in the hot milk product with spicy additives. Everything should settle in 5 minutes.

Whip the remaining milk into foam. Drink options may vary, but this is the basics.

Traditions of Japanese tea ceremonies

Today, matcha latte is one of the most revered drinks in the world. It is made from Japanese matcha tea extract and milk – ideally plant-based.

Matcha belongs to the so-called ceremonial Japanese teas. It is made from "tencha" - an early harvest of green tea, grown in the shade, picked by hand and ground into a fine powder of a beautiful jade color.

In its pure form, matcha has a bitter taste, so it is customary to soften it with milk - preferably vegetable milk (most often coconut or almond).

Matcha latte contains a huge amount of chlorophyll, as well as a lot of tonin and caffeine. In terms of antioxidant content, one cup of this healing drink is equivalent to 10 cups of regular green tea.

Matcha latte has such vital effects on the human body as:

  • fights free radicals,
  • thanks to the chlorophyll contained in the drink, it binds and removes heavy metals from the body,
  • promotes rejuvenation and significantly inhibits the aging process of tissues,
  • starts the process of self-cleansing of the liver,
  • removes harmful substances from the body,
  • normalizes metabolism,
  • helps the body comfortably transition from sleep to wakefulness (better than coffee),
  • charges you with positive energy for the whole day and at the same time prevents overexcitation,
  • significantly improves the condition of the skin, protects it from ultraviolet radiation, restores it after prolonged exposure to the sun,
  • activates a program for improving the digestive system,
  • helps normalize weight, burns excess fat,
  • activates intellectual activity, improves mood, relieves anxiety attacks, improves memory, concentrates attention,
  • significantly strengthens the immune system, helps the body effectively resist infectious agents.

Drinking matcha latte does not entail the so-called “caffeine depletion effect”.

Recipes for making tea latte at home

Many tea lovers still do not know how to properly make this aromatic drink at home.

When ordering in a cafe, you will have to pay a decent amount for a small cup of drink. But why pay for something that is easy to cook yourself?

Here are some simple and creative recipes for delicious chai latte.

Classical

You will need full-fat milk (380 ml), 2 small spoons of tea (black only), the same amount of ground cinnamon, sugar, 2 allspice peas, 5 grams of ground ginger, and a few pieces of cardamom.

The most convenient way to prepare the drink is in a coffee pot, into which 50 ml of water is poured, cardamom, ginger, pepper and sugar are added.

All this should boil well, after which cinnamon and most of the milk are added to this mixture. Let it brew for 3-5 minutes.

The teapot is poured with boiling water, tea leaves are poured into it and hot milk with spices is poured over it. All this should stand for about five minutes.

The remaining milk is slightly heated and whipped into a light foam. This spice recipe is basic, but variations are possible.

Spiced Chai Latte from Starbucks

At home, you can prepare exactly the same tea latte as served at the popular Starbucks.

Mix spices in a small saucepan:

  • half tsp ground cardamom;
  • the same amount of ginger powder and the same amount of nutmeg (chopped);
  • a little star anise and ground black pepper;
  • 6 pcs. carnations;
  • a little less than a dessert spoon of ground white pepper;
  • sugar;
  • tsp cinnamon.

After which, they are poured with a glass of water and boiled over low heat for about 7 minutes, covered. Then add 2 small spoons of black tea and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

In the meantime, the milk needs to be heated. It is best to do this in a coffee maker using a steam wand. But here you will need skill, because the process is quite troublesome.

If you don’t have a coffee maker, or don’t want to bother for a long time, then you can use a microwave and a simple gas stove. The main thing is to make sure that the milk does not burn.

You will need a glass of milk heated to +60°C, no more and no less. The finished tea with spices is poured into cups (up to 2/3 of the volume) and poured with hot milk. The real chai latte you get at Starbucks is ready.

Spiced tea option No. 2

Another original and fairly simple recipe for spicy tea. To prepare it, you also take a small container in which you carefully grind the spices:

  • 5 pieces of cardamom;
  • 1-2 cinnamon sticks;
  • tsp ground ginger;
  • 1-2 peppercorns (black);
  • sugar.

Add half a glass of water to the pan and bring to a boil (over low heat). Then add 350 ml of milk and continue cooking for 10 minutes.

At this time, you can start brewing tea. The teapot is scalded with boiling water, a tablespoon of black tea leaves is poured into it and boiling milk with spices is poured over it.

The kettle is wrapped in a warm towel and allowed to brew for 10-15 minutes. Here is such a simple recipe.

With green tea

A drink based on green tea will be no less tasty, and it contains much more nutrients than a black tea latte. We have separate material on the benefits and harms of green tea for the body of women and men. The recipe is quite unusual, but interesting.

Pour a glass of water and milk into a ceramic bowl. Immediately add a teaspoon of ground ginger, cardamom and thyme, a couple of cloves, a small pinch of nutmeg and star anise, three small spoons of sugar and one large spoon of green tea (leaf).

Bring all ingredients to a boil and simmer slowly for 6 minutes, stirring occasionally. The finished drink must be left for 5 minutes to fully brew and pour into cups.

Matcha latte

Today, lattes made with matcha green tea powder are considered the most popular among gourmets. Many lovers prefer to make it with almond or soy milk.

Making matcha latte is very simple. It is enough to take a glass of water or milk (preferably almond), 2 large spoons of matcha powder, coconut oil and honey and one of vanilla extract.

Boil the water and cool slightly, and heat the milk separately (do not boil). Place all necessary ingredients (except honey) in a blender and blend thoroughly for 30 seconds. Finally, add honey and stir.

Instead of green or black tea, you can add white tea, and also experiment with a set of spices.

Some experts advise replacing the water in the recipe with hot apple juice. On top, a cup of drink can be decorated with whipped cream and sprinkled with nutmeg.
