Some sources claim that the concept of “glace” was originally applied to chilled espresso with liqueur. According to other sources, this could be the name of a coffee drink with yolk.

The birthplace of the drink cannot be definitively named; some facts speak of Australian origin, while others speak of French origin. The name comes from French and is translated as “frozen” or “chilled”, “ice”. To make it appetizing and impressive, the drink is served in transparent tall glasses with a tempting cherry on top of a mountain of ice cream. There are many recipes for making coffee, and each country prepares it differently.

An Australian legend tells of the accidental origin of the product's recipe. One day, a skilled barista, afraid of losing a regular customer, added ice cream to espresso instead of milk; the guest loved the drink so much that he began to order it constantly. Since then, the drink has been very popular all over the world, especially often ordered on hot summer days.
