RESIDUAL SPIN FUNCTION

During the final phase of espresso preparation, the built-in electronic valve helps remove residual moisture, making the filter easy to clean.

Before preparing coffee, hot water is pumped through the heating system for a short time - the ground coffee is moistened and swells, which increases the pressure and produces coffee with a rich aroma.

The programming function allows you to save your personal espresso volume settings for preparing one or two cups of coffee.

Press for compacting ground coffee, Filters with single and double bottom

COMPAMPING PRESS

Makes it possible to tamp ground coffee without removing the press from the coffee station, and is also ideal for manual tamping.

Before compacting, distribute the ground coffee evenly in the filter.

FILTERS WITH SINGLE

Thanks to the use of single and double bottom filters, you get an additional opportunity to choose your own unique coffee taste and feel like a real barista.

Single filters are designed for finely ground coffee. Double filters are recommended for coarsely ground coffee.

Confirming the negative

The horn is a problem area of the C700. Therefore, the demand for this “spare part” is great. Photo: masterclass34.ru

But other negative reviews about Bork C700 are indeed true. The coffee machine actually has a lot of weak points. I'll start with the main thing - the horn. The top of the horn is covered with low-quality chrome plating, and inside it is plastic, plus a gasket. The chrome eventually peels off and the silumin base is exposed, which begins to actually siphon off unpleasant flavors into the coffee. There are also flavors from the rubber gasket, which even fills the coffee with its aroma. As a result, such a horn can be safely thrown away after a maximum of a year.

Go ahead. According to reviews, this gasket for the horn of the Bork C700 generally breaks with intensive use once a year, with moderate use - once every two. I will say more, with intensive use the coffee filter itself gets clogged once a month! The fact is that the metal filters here have a double bottom. According to the manufacturer, this is an advantage and allows you to create a thick “Crema” foam. But you don’t have to fall for it.

The double bottom of filters actually leads to a predisposition to clogging.

It is clear that you need to use the correct, rather coarse grind of the beans. But even using it, this filthy filter still tends to clog at the first opportunity. Cleaning it is, firstly, difficult, and secondly, sometimes it is simply impossible. And you have to throw out the filter. And the new one is worth a wow!

Yes, the Bork S700 coffee maker has a large water tank. But, as I wrote above, there is a nuance. The machine has the functions of heating the circuit, flushing the channels, and auto-cooling the boiler after steam. And for all this she spends water in buckets. Figuratively, of course, but compared to Saeko grain machines, significantly more. And even there, people sometimes complain that they have to often drain the water from the drip tray. It is there that our heroine drains the “return”.

Against this background, such little things as the thunderous operation of the pump, from which the cups on the upper platform shake, and the essentially useless heating of these cups, which hardly heats up, seem like mere trifles. Yes, you can remember the uneven pouring into two cups, when more gets into one than the other... Perhaps that will be enough.

Actually, the workmanship of the Bork C 700 could be briefly described:

"Made in China" (and it really is made there)

I have nothing against it, but the number of defects and refusals fully confirms the negative connotation of this phrase.

Cup warming panel

After using the cappuccino maker, a small amount of water is automatically passed through the heating element and cools it to achieve the optimal espresso brewing temperature.

CUP HEATING PANEL

Allows you to heat the dishes and maintain their optimal temperature before serving coffee. Heated cups maintain the creamy consistency of the espresso.

The cup warming panel begins to heat up immediately after turning on the coffee station.

If the temperature drops, the red heat indicator will light up and the coffee maker will automatically restore the temperature suitable for brewing coffee. GRINDING When purchasing ground coffee, make sure that the grind is suitable for use in espresso/cappuccino coffee makers. Check that the grind is fine enough, but not too fine, so that the coffee does not turn into powder. Grinding affects the speed at which water passes through the filter and, therefore, the taste of the finished coffee. 2021 CLEANING CLEANING DESCALING THE COFFEE MAKER Due to regular use, hard water can cause mineral deposits to form on many internal components, causing slow water flow, reduced machine performance and poor coffee quality. It is recommended to regularly (every 2–3 months) remove lime deposits using specialized cleaning products. We do not recommend washing any parts of the coffee maker or accessories in the dishwasher. Make sure that the mode switch is in the STAND BY position and the POWER button is in the OFF position, and the coffee maker is turned off and unplugged from the outlet. Remove the filter holder and foaming nozzle. Mix cleaning agent and water and pour into water tank. ЂЂЂPlug the coffee maker into the outlet and turn it on. Strengths

Generally speaking, the Bork C700 carob coffee maker boasts some advanced features that are found in professional products. For example, starting heating of the boiler and channels, pre-wetting the coffee tablet before starting extraction.

Another feature from this series is automatic cooling of the boiler after using steam. Usually it is necessary to slightly reduce the pressure and temperature manually, but here the function is applied itself upon completion of using the pannarello.

By the way, the milk froths quite well, there’s nothing to complain about. Yes, the intensity is not adjustable, but if your arms are straight, then it is not necessary. The main thing is to use the right milk (protein, fat about 3%, temperature about 5 degrees) and dense foam is ensured.

Well, the main pride is the 2.75 liter water tank, it’s almost like the “professionals”! But there is a nuance, which is discussed below.

Refuting the negative

Here I would like to refute the reviews circulating on the Internet about the Bork C700 coffee maker, about the fact that it allegedly makes cold coffee. If you wait for the machine to warm up (which takes about 5 minutes, yes, it’s unpleasant) and use a warmed cup, after first passing a little hot water through the horn, then the coffee will turn out to be quite the “correct” temperature.

But I know why such reviews are born. First of all, people don't wait 5 minutes for the ready light to go off. Secondly, despite the large supply of water, the boiler of the machine is small. It cannot provide a lot of hot water, for example, even for 200 ml of Americano. The fact is that all such coffee makers are designed for espresso. They are actually called espresso coffee makers. Let me remind you that the canonical volume of espresso is 30-40 ml. It will dispense 100 ml of hot water, but no more.

Review of Bork coffee stations of the “eighth series”: Bork C801, C804, C805

NB! Are you looking for a 15 bar coffee maker? Do you want to understand more deeply how they differ? I recommend reading my new mega-test comparison of carob coffee makers from major brands using the example of Delonghi ECO311, Saeco Poemia and Vitek-1511. Be careful, there are a lot of letters and photos.

First, a short introduction. The Bork company itself declares all the devices described below as coffee stations, which they are - these are carob coffee makers with integrated coffee grinders. But often on the Internet and “offline” they are called coffee machines. Consultants in stores suggest these coffee stations as alternatives to Saeko, Delonghi, Jura, etc. coffee machines. Without hesitation they say, “Yes, there’s almost nothing to do here, anyone can handle it.”

But you need to understand soberly. These are not automatic coffee machines. Espresso is brewed manually (semi-automatically). The presence of an integrated coffee grinder does not greatly facilitate the process, allowing, first of all, to simply save space on the table in comparison with free-standing devices. Yes, the C805 model has an automatic coffee tempering system. But why she gave up for a beginner is unclear when there are full automatic machines. For an advanced amateur, semi or professional? But such people, on the contrary, should strive for complete control of the process. But more about the 805 will be below.

In short, all these machines have a very strange positioning and you need to think 10 times in any case and clearly understand what you want from coffee equipment before listening to anyone’s arguments that “only Bork brews delicious coffee, and it’s easier than anyone else.” "

Coffee machine Bork C801, also known as Catler ES 8012, also known as Solis Barista Pro 114, and the original of all of them is Breville BES860XL

Officially discontinued and almost disappeared from the shelves, but at the time of review it is still occasionally found on sale for about 50 thousand rubles.

I can write for a long time about controversial issues, but honestly, I don’t see the point. If what I say below is not enough, then why should I hit the wall. Therefore, briefly from the brightest:

  1. Although the Bork C801 uses an Ulka pump , which is probably installed in most home coffee machines and carob coffee makers, it makes noise like a helicopter! Well, not like a helicopter, but almost louder than in some Polaris. Apparently, the problem is in noise insulation and location in the body, “unsprung masses”.
  2. There are no grain and water sensors , and there are no windows in the back or front of the water tank. It is clear that these sensors are, in principle, extremely rare in carob coffee makers, but this is formally a coffee station and even almost a coffee machine, as they try to sell it in stores. But 95% of real coffee machines have such sensors.
  3. The coffee grinder pours coffee into the horn not in the center, but with a shift closer to the wall, as a result, after removing the horn from the saddle, the coffee often spills. This is exactly the design of the coffee grinder. In addition, it is activated by a built-in button; just press the horn. Over time, the button becomes clogged with ground coffee and begins to malfunction; you have to responsibly monitor the frequency of the node.
  4. The pressure gauge is not digitalized, that is, it just has some kind of scale on it and it is extremely difficult for an ignorant person to understand where on it, for example, 9 bar. In reality, it is generally here more for beauty. The machine comes with two sets of filters - with a double bottom (with an “improver” that forgives shortcomings of tamping and grinding) and with a single bottom (for experienced ones, without “improvement”). So with the first filters the pressure gauge is useless, but with the second the next point spoils everything.
  5. The heater is a thermoblock, not a boiler. Accordingly, everything that I wrote about Bork C803 is applicable for Bork C 801. The thermoblock is the first thing that can multiply by zero many efforts to maintain thermal stability. Plus, in light of the fact that there is no PID temperature controller here, and the control is implemented as primitively as in any home Delonghi of the ECP type, the machine cannot provide a stable flow temperature. It falls in the range of 5-7°C for a single espresso and 10-14°C for a double espresso when the group is heated!
  6. The question is, why then pay that kind of money? Built-in coffee grinder? A beginner amateur just needs to take a coffee machine. For 50 thousand rubles. you can take excellent milk machines. Professionals, for the reasons mentioned above, will not receive coffee on the 801st Bork that is close to the Gaggia Classic pair + a decent burr coffee grinder, and such a pair will be more affordable.
  7. And the finishing touch is the objective quality of workmanship and materials. Yes, everything looks high-quality, expensive, and stylish on the outside. The interior is much cheaper, and the technical design (location of components, wires, water circuits to optimize space, repairs, fault tolerance) cannot be compared with the “European school” (Italy, Germany, Switzerland). Let me remind you that the design (both external and technical) comes up with Breville in Australia, factory in China.
